The Mercedes-AMG C63 is among the most popular products from Affalterbach and that will likely continue with the recent facelift.
Despite the V8-powered sports sedan’s success, tuners always seem to find ways to improve its performance, especially when money is no issue for the customer.
G-Power is a company known for its extreme takes on various BMW and Mercedes-AMG models. However, we don’t recall a more radical C-Class than their latest build. The donor car, a pre-facelift Mercedes-AMG C63 S sedan, has undergone a massive powertrain update accompanied by a camouflage-style wrap.
G-Power boosted the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine to 800 PS (789 hp) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque, bringing the C63 S into supercar territory. 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes 3.4 seconds and the top speed increases to 330 km/h (205 mph).
That makes it 0.6 seconds quicker than the stock C63 S and much faster — the AMG Driver’s Package unlocks a 290 km/h (180 mph) top speed for the production car. How did G-Power manage to squeeze an additional 290 PS (286 hp) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) from the M177 engine?
For starters, they upgraded engine software to the G-Power Performance Software V4. Then they made some mechanical changes. Those include larger CNC-machined compressor and turbine wheels, optimized compressor housing, and enlarged intake area.
That’s not all. The Hurricane RR engine conversion brings lighter and sturdier forged pistons, an optimized manifold, and a high-performance fuel pump. A new intake system with a high-flow air filter and stainless-steel downpipes round off the engine modifications.
Given the monumental torque the V8 now develops, the seven-speed automatic transmission is reinforced as well.
To make sure people notice this is no ordinary C63 S, G-Power adds a camouflage-look wrap, a bigger boot lid spoiler, and 20-inch Hurricane RR forged rims. The double-spoke aluminum wheels are shod with 255/30 ZR20 and 285/30 ZR20 high-performance tires.
