2019 Ram HD Teased, Promises To Be Most Capable Heavy Duty Truck Ever

Ram introduced the 2019 1500 at last year’s North American International Auto Show and now the company is turning its attention to the Ram 2500 and 3500.

Set to debut on January 14th, the all-new trucks promise to be the “most capable heavy duty pickup[s] ever.” The company is keeping specifications under wraps, but the fine print suggests the Ram HDs will have best-in-class towing, payload and torque.

While there’s word on numbers, we can expect the trucks to improve upon the figures produced by their predecessors. When properly equipped, the 2018 Ram HDs can carry up to 7,390 lbs (3,352 kg) and tow up to 31,210 lbs (14,156 kg). This impressive capability is due, in part, to the available 6.7-liter Cummings six-cylinder turbodiesel engine which produces up to 385 hp (287 kW / 390 PS) and 930 lb-ft (1,259 Nm) of torque.

Getting back to the new trucks, the 2019 Ram HDs will follow in the footsteps of the Ram 1500 but adopt a unique grille and restyled headlights. The trucks also have a bulging hood and tow mirrors which feature spot lights that illuminate the ground. Additional styling details are hard to make out, but the videos give us a glimpse of the steel bed.

Moving into the cabin, drivers can expect a more luxurious and high-tech interior which echoes that of its lighter duty cousin. The videos don’t provide a lot of details, but we can see the company’s massive 12-inch Uconnect infotainment system. The truck also has a large digital display in the instrument cluster which is positioned between two analog gauges.

Details will be released on Monday and the 2019 Ram HDs will be built at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan.
