No, The Production-Spec McLaren Senna GTR Won’t Launch On February 15

According to a report by The Supercar Blog, which cites an unnamed source, McLaren might reveal the production-spec Senna GTR at a special event on February 15 – that’s just four days from now. However, McLaren PR director Wayne Bruce has told us that this is simply not true. Shame.

McLaren previewed the Senna GTR at last year’s Geneva Motor Show with an eye-catching concept and announced that it would build just 75 examples.

At the time, Woking said that the Senna GTR Concept gave a clear indication of what to expect from the production model – which, suffice to say, is a lot.

Like the P1 GTR that preceded it, the Senna GTR will be sold exclusively as a track-only model. Underpinning the hypercar is the same Monocage II structure as the road-legal Senna and despite all the aerodynamic add-ons, the Senna GTR should weigh roughly the same as the 1198 kg (2641 kg) street-legal Senna.

Power will come from McLaren’s new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that will deliver 813 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. That’s nothing to write home about, as it’s only 14 hp more than the road car, but the GTR will be significantly faster around a track thanks to new dampers, springs, sway bars, brakes, and a number of OTT aerodynamic components that, according to the British automaker, will enable it to pull more than 3g!

The upcoming Senna GTR will cost at least $1.4 million plus taxes and any options/customizations ordered by each customer. Despite this, all 75 units have already been sold.
