In the Mustang performance market, it’s still dominated by the street/strip crowd. However, there is a large segment of Mustang enthusiasts who like to open track/road race their Mustangs. On any given weekend you can find Mustang enthusiasts at open track events, HPDE schools, and autocross competitions. For this type of automotive competition, it really helps to keep oil circulating throughout your Mustang’s engine.
Thankfully, Ford Performance Parts is in the business of making sure that happens. Just like in drag racing, under extreme acceleration the engine can be starved of oil if the pickup and oil pan aren’t suitable for racing conditions. In road racing and autocross, the right oil pan is even more important since the oil is being pushed side to side in the turns.
Ford Performance Parts’ new M-6675-M52RR oil pan is compatible with Coyote-based 2011-2017 5.0L and 2015-2018 5.2L engines, which is the same one used on the FP350S race car. This 12-quart capacity oil pan features an internal baffle and trap door system to make sure the pickup tube is always bathed in oil. That way, the engine is never starved of oil, and the fun continues, because without steady oil flow, everyone knows what happens, and it isn’t good.
