The Gotland Ring is still under construction and thus only partly asphalted (3.2 km / 1.98 mile northern section). The 4.2 km (2.6 mile) southern section is still only gravel. Furthermore, the performance SUV ran on used road tires and was driven by German racing driver and TV presenter Tim Schrick.
As you can see from the video below, the top-of-the-range Cayenne performed admirably on both surfaces, which is impressive seen as how the Turbo S E-Hybrid is also marketed as a fuel efficient vehicle.
Power comes from a plug-in hybrid system that features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing 542 HP (550 PS). Then, an electric motor adds an extra 134 HP (136 PS) for a total of 670 HP (680 PS) and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. This means you can accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds before maxing out at 183 mph (295 km/h).
If fuel economy is your thing, then you’ll probably want to know that by letting the electric motor do all the work, the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid can cover nearly 25 miles (40 km) on electric power alone. Also, if you leave the vehicle in E-Power mode exclusively, you can venture up as high as 84 mph (135 km/h) without it sipping any gasoline.
In the U.S. the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid will cost upwards of $161,900, while the Coupe version will require you to shell out an extra $2,500.
