As every imaginable muscle machine rumbled by on historic Woodward Avenue, two new vehicles made their debut in the Steeda Performance Vehicles display along cruise path. One is convertible that combines style and performance, while the other is a purpose-built machine ready for high-speed pursuits.
Using the massive Dream Cruise as the backdrop, SPV took the wraps off its new White Carbon Edition and Steeda Special Service Edition S550s. The former is a limited production convertible and the latter is designed to offer law enforcement agencies with a rapid-response vehicle.
Available in either Steeda Q500 or Q850 performance configurations, the White Carbon Edition by Steeda and Speedkore will only be built in a limited run of white convertibles with black leather interiors and black tops. From there, Steeda adds its potent performance upgrades and a host of Speedkore’s carbon fiber bits, including a front splitter, hood, side rockers, mirror caps, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler.
“We wanted to appeal to a different demographic. Steeda has traditionally appealed to a lot of hardcore, power-hungry performance enthusiasts that know what our specialty is — superior suspension systems and power delivery,” Bob Adams, President of Steeda Performance Vehicles, said. “We wanted to appeal to people who wanted a convertible and performance.”
While the White Carbon Edition appeals to a new Steeda customer, the company’s new Special Service Edition addresses a familiar clientele with a fresh take.
“This is the international debut for the Steeda Special Service package. We have been building police vehicles and special service vehicles for close to 20 years…” Bob explained. “What we have here is really a response to the departments and agencies that have come to us looking for something a little bit different with more power and better handling for rapid response.”
In addition to a full complement of Steeda performance enhancements, including a full G-Trac suspension, the Special Service Edition features an RFI Grounding Package, a Compartment Serialization Badge, a Steeda Graphic/Badge Package, a High-Speed Aero Package, a special roll cage, and weapons rack behind the seats.
“This vehicle, from a visual perspective, is meant to be stealth,” Bob added. “We have the reflective graphics, so without the sun or light shining on them they basically disappear.”
So these Steeda-prepped Special Service Edition Mustangs can sneak up on an offender or get to the scene of the crime in a hurry.
