The roaming drag racing circus known as HOT ROD Drag Week rocked the historic ground of Cecil County Dragway for Day 2 of the five-day torture test. The weather was warmer, but the competitors still put on one heck of a show for an excited crowd.

Tom Bailey, the provisional Unlimited leader, didn’t light up a low 6-second run but, he kept his name on top of the list. The Sick 2.0 Camaro posted a 6.83 at 205 mph, creating a 6.523 average through just two segments. Adding some drama to the day was a thrash in the pit. Bailey and engine builder Steve Morris fixed the exhaust valve guides on the SM481 billet cylinder heads before they hit the road to Atco Raceway for Day 3.

Bryant Goldstone had a career day on Drag Week when he and co-pilot Brian Robbins pushed the all-steel 1973 AMC Javelin to a scorching 6.68 at 215 mph! That dropped them down to a 6.8115 average and into the second overall position. Sweden’s Magnus Frost had an unfortunate accident when his Opel Ascona got sideways and hit the wall. Frost emerged unscathed, but the same couldn’t be said for his Unlimited entry.

Rick Steinke and his “Honk If Parts Fall Off” 1967 Chevy Malibu cracked off a perfect 8.500 in Street Race Small-Block Power Adder, it moved him up the list to the fourth position with an 8.5650 average. Randal Reed continues to lead the category with a continued assault on the 8.50 barrier and carrying an 8.5350 average into Day 3.

Dennis Taylor came into the day on the leader board in Super Street Big-Block Power Adder thanks to his 1972 Chevy Nova running high 7s. He rolled out to 7.90 at 174 mph, pushing his average down to 8.0390 and remaining as the class leader.
