Lamborghini Recalls Three Dozen Aventadors In Australia

Lamborghini has issued a recall for just over three dozen Aventador S models in Australia.

A document from the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission reveals that a total of 38 Lamborghini Aventador S Coupe and Aventador S Roadster models from the 2017-2019 model years may have a software fault that means they are unable to maintain the minimum idle speed required to keep the engine running while idling.

If the engine fails to maintain minimum idle speed, the vehicle may stall and increase the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Lamborghini will notify owners of affected vehicles directly and encourage them to arrange an appointment with an authorized Lamborghini dealership for a free software update to rectify the issue.

The vehicles impacted were built between 15 April 2017 and 31 December 2018. Of the 38 Aventador S models recalled, 18 are Coupes while the remaining 20 are Roadster models.

This isn’t the first recall involving the Lamborghini Aventador. In early 2017, models around the world were recalled after it was discovered there was a risk of fire if the fuel tank was overfilled and gases and fuel vapors made contact with the exhaust. In mid-2018, no less than 1,700 Aventador models were recalled in the United States because the engines could stall when the seven-speed transmission downshifted automatically from low revs. In the same month, a total of eight Aventadors were recalled in the U.S. because the wheel bolts could loosen over time.
