Are 102 Images Enough To Make You Want The BMW X5 xDrive45e?

The fourth-gen BMW X5 comes with a number of different powertrains, and depending on the market, you can get it with the usual diesel and petrol units, as well as in range-topping X5 M guise. Soon to join the lineup at dealers in select countries is the xDrive45e.

Unveiled a couple of months ago, the plug-in hybrid X5 combines
3.0-liter inline-six engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 394 PS (388 HP/ 290 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque.

The premium mid-size SUV has four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, and does the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 5.6 seconds, performance that used to be the privilege of the fastest high-riding vehicles until a few years ago.

Where the road and legislation allow it (that is, in an Autobahn or a track…), it will max out at 235 km/h (146 mph). More importantly, though, it will do up to 135 km/h (84 mph) in all-electric mode, with a claimed range of 67-87 km (42-54 miles) in the WLTP test cycle with the 24 kWh lithium-ion battery fully charged. Tested under the same regulations, the fuel economy is as low as 1.2 l/100 km (196 mpg US / 235 mpg UK) and CO2 emissions are 27 g/km.
