No, Ford is not terminating the Coyote engine; Holley Performance Products’ line of Terminator X and Terminator X Max is now available for the Coyote and 4.6/5.4 modular engines. Holley has been manufacturing performance parts for years, and its line of engine-management systems have become a mainstay in the Mustang market.
The latest version of Holley’s Terminator X and Terminator X Max is aimed at 2011-2017 Coyote engines, along with 4.6 and 5.4 Two-Valve and Four-Valve engines. Holley bills the Terminator X and Terminator X Max as a plug-and-play engine control system thanks to a Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband sensor, onboard diagnostics, a built-in 1-bar MAP sensor that can be disabled in boosted applications, four inputs and outputs for various sensors or performance add-ons, boost and nitrous control, integrated data logging, and free EFI tuning software to help the end user with the installation and use of the system.
The Terminator X Max only comes into play when you need drive-by-wire throttle control and/or 4R70W transmission control. The Terminator X is available for EV1 and EV6 injectors and for use with either stock or Holley’s Smart Coils. For nitrous users, you can set minimum and maximum rpm for nitrous activation, timing, target AFR, and custom progressive curves for nitrous percentage and ignition timing.
