Pay mobile with PayPal - new payment method “Payment Code”

From next year you can also pay in stationary shops with PayPal. In addition to credit cards or cash, you should also be able to use the new payment method “Payment Code” in the shop. This works with the help of a QR code on the smartphone, which is generated when the PayPal app is opened and can then be read by the checkout scanner.

It has not yet been determined which retailers will offer the new payment method. At Rewe in Germany, however, there is already the option of paying by “Payment Code”.

An additional advantage of the “Payment Code” should be, for example, discounts that are directly integrated into the app and offset. With this step, PayPal seems to be hoping for a stronger establishment in stationary retail and thus a further spread of its payment methods.

Over Paypal:

The online payment system is a subsidiary of Ebay and has set itself the goal of enabling the simplest possible flow of payments between buyers and sellers. In contrast to bank transfers, PayPal payment orders are immediately credited to the recipient and are therefore processed very quickly.

PayPal has been represented in Germany since 2004 and now looks after over 15 million customer accounts. Until now, payments could be made by direct debit, credit card, online transfer or credit on the PayPal account.
