The job, career and recruiting platform Glassdoor has carefully examined over a thousand interview questions. The basis for the survey were posts from applicants from all over Germany, which were addressed to the job and career community last year. From all posts, Glassdoor has filtered the following list of the ten most difficult questions.

This question was directed to an applicant for an internship at Estée Lauder in Munich.

3. Air pressure measurement

"How would you go about measuring the height of a building with a barometer?"

An applicant for a job as a business analyst at Unicredit Management Consulting in Munich was confronted with this question.

4. Stock exchange knowledge

"Which 30 companies are in the Dax?"

An applicant for a position as a consultant at Roland Berger had to answer this question (no location).

5. Favorite story

"What is your favorite event in history?"

This question was asked to an applicant as a business analyst at eFront Financial Solutions in Frankfurt am Main.

  1. Pregnant?
    For example, the question of pregnancy is inadmissible. It would only be an exception if the activity could harm the unborn child.
  2. Questions about family planning
    The question of personal family planning is also inadmissible.
  3. Are you religious?
    Here, too, you can lie. Exception: You apply to a church employer.
  4. If there was a choice tomorrow
    Here, too, you only have to answer if the employer is a company with tendencies, for example a party.
  5. Attachment of wages and financial circumstances
    Questions on these topics are also inadmissible. The only exception is if the applicant is applying for a position with extensive financial transactions.
  6. Criminal record?
    The question is inadmissible unless the criminal record is of direct relevance to the job.
  7. Questions about AIDS
    Questions about an AIDS infection must be answered if the activity could endanger other people. The question of an AIDS disease must be answered truthfully.
  8. Union member
    The same applies here as with denomination and party affiliation. Anyone who does not apply to a trend-setting company is allowed to lie.
  9. Answer confidently
    Better not to answer inadmissible questions "You mustn't!" say. It is better to react calmly and confidently, you don't have to stick to the truth.

"What is your personal secret?"

With this question, Zalando put an applicant as a software developer in Berlin to the test.

"Please try to estimate the annual consumption of Clearasil in Germany."

An applicant for a brand management internship at Reckitt Benckiser in Mannheim was faced with this guessing question.

9. Seven things

"Name seven things you can do with this pen."

This question was asked by the HitFox Group in Berlin to an applicant as head of customer care.

10. Milkmaid bill

"Imagine a machine that can produce all the milk that Starbucks needs on an average day worldwide. All that needs to be done is the right number of cows to go through that machine. How many Starbucks stores are there in the world? How many cows would I?" need? How fast would they have to go through? "

The applicant for an internship in consulting at Bain Company in Munich had to endure this catalog of questions.
